About Us

In February 2006, we -- nine women, who called ourselves the Safari Sisters -- experienced the grandeur of Kenya while on a Tropical Ice safari led by owner, Iain Allan.  Iain invited us to visit the Timboni Feeder School, an elementary school in rural eastern Kenya. The school has no water and only the most basic facilities.  We were overwhelmed by the hardship these children face and in awe of their enthusiasm to be at school.

Our lives were permanently changed by this visit and upon leaving, we vowed to assist  Iain in his efforts to raise the money needed to drill a well at Timboni and help give these children a first step toward a better future.  We wanted these children to thrive, not just survive.  We wanted them to have water to drink, to grow food, to be self-reliant.

Back in the US, the mechanics of such a possibility began to take shape.   A non-profit organization was formed with the mission to raise funds to drill a well, install and maintain a pumping station, and provide additional improvements to the school.

Friends of Timboni Feeder School has raised close to 100,000 dollars.  For more details about our progress, go to Current News.
